Learn more about the MIPS reporting categories before you determine your level of participation. The weights and requirements of the categories change each year.
Quality (30%)
In this category, clinicians report quality measures that best reflect their practice. Quality is worth 30% of the overall MIPS score. Learn more about 2025 Quality scoring.
Improvement activities (IA) (15%)
In IA, clinicians are rewarded for care focused activities on care coordination, beneficiary engagement, patient safety, and more. IA is worth 15% of the overall MIPS score. Learn more about 2025 Improvement Activities.
Promoting interoperability (PI) (25%)
Clinicians earn credit for the use of a certified EHR and reporting on EHR-specific measures in this category. PI is worth 25% of the overall MIPS score. Learn more about 2025 PI scoring.
Cost (30%)
The Cost category does not require reporting from clinicians and is calculated automatically by CMS. Learn more about 2025 Cost scoring.

MIPS Value Pathways (MVPs)
